These drawings and photographs, located at the Library of Congress, can be inspected in much greater detail at the on the HABS site. The eight photographs of the interior of Sycamores were taken by Arthur C. Haskell, one of the out-of-work architects who was a renowned photographer of historical buildings. On the second page of his obituary, written by Abbott Lowell Cummings, is a photograph he took of the Alexander House in Springfield. This 450 ton house was moved in the summer for 2003 to make way for the new Federal Building. The mover was Brian Payne, the same man who moved Rawson House.
Haskell was the principal photographer for the White Pine Series Monographs. All his photography was done with an 8” X 10” view camera without the aid of any artificial light. You will note several errors in the photos of Sycamores. The negative of the stairway has been flipped and photos 3 and 4 are mirror images of each other.
